Craft & Ecoprint Sessions
Natural dye, ecoprint, and creative reuse — open for individuals and schools.
Craft & Ecoprint Sessions
Since 2021, this corner of the garden has been a workshop space as much as a growing one. What started as eco enzyme production from kitchen waste has grown into a full practice of ecological craft — eco pounding with plants grown on site, natural dye, cloth menstrual pad making, and creative reuse of materials that would otherwise be thrown away. In November 2022, artists from five countries — Switzerland, Thailand, Australia, the Philippines, and Malaysia — joined a collaborative eco pounding session here before performing at Malioboro. Mbak Rina now leads the monthly sessions that continue that same spirit, open to anyone who RSVPs.
Open to individuals, schools, and small groups by RSVP. No craft background needed — sessions are designed to teach from scratch. Materials are provided; just bring a bag to take your work home.
- Press leaves and flowers from the garden into fabric using the eco pounding technique.
- Make natural dye from plant material grown on site.
- Produce eco enzyme from kitchen waste — usable as fertiliser or natural cleaner.
- Learn reusable cloth menstrual pad-making, taught peer-to-peer by community members.
