Welcoming the World
Cultural exchange and eduwisata for international visitors and study tours.
Welcoming the World
Kebun Kali Code has welcomed guests from far beyond Yogyakarta. In 2023, the community collaborated with the Kirby Institute at UNSW Sydney on a mural project addressing the climate crisis. That same year, it hosted the Summer School on Environmental History Indonesia, bringing academics from multiple countries into the garden. Over the years, visitors have come from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Canada, Italy, Suriname, France, and Singapore — sharing meals, workshops, and sometimes simply sitting under the same roof to talk. Mas Adit now coordinates these visits, shaping each one around who's arriving and what they're curious about.
Designed for international visitors, study tours, university groups, and anyone curious about how this neighbourhood works. Visits are arranged on request — reach out ahead with your group size and what you're hoping to learn.
- Join a guided walk through the garden and hear its story directly from community members.
- Take part in a shared meal or cooking session — often cross-cultural, depending on who's visiting.
- Sit in on a workshop already running that day, from eco enzyme to ecoprint.
- Exchange perspectives in an open discussion on urban farming, climate, or community life.
